The Euravox Manifesto

Mission Statement

Provide a digital safe-haven for people who are displaced from mainstream social networks as they acquiesce to fascism, and make that platform fundamentally superior in order to attract a wider user base who accept a social contract that makes life better for everyone.

Philosophy and vision

Less well known [than other paradoxes] is the paradox of tolerance: Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them. In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be most unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal.

Karl Popper, The Open Society and its Enemies

We do not believe that bigotry and intolerance deserves a platform, and definitely not our platform. Moreover, we firmly believe that minorities who are targeted by bigotry and intolerance deserve protection. Free speech is a laudable goal, but free speech does not, and must never, imply freedom from consequences.

Popper’s paradox can be solved by taking seriously the need to support a social contract, where there is an expectation that people do not cause harm to each other, either directly or by their speech.

Our vision for Euravox is to build a social network that is genuinelybetter than its competition:

Superior Technology

Building on modern, 2025-era technology that is free from the overhead of older web technologies. This allows us to do more with less CPU and network bandwidth by leveraging technological improvements, thereby reducing our cost per user.

Superior Experience

Integrating more kinds of media, richer long-form content, etc., makes for a more compelling user experience. We want to do better than simply pump fear and disinformation to users. Doom scrolling gives great engagement metrics, but has terrible consequences for the mental health of users.

Superior Economy

We intend to return a large proportion of our direct and ad income to our creators pro rata, with a very simple and transparent algorithm. This approach somewhat resembles that of YouTube and Twitch, but we prefer to have a zero bar for monetization. We expect this to be competitive for most existing content creators, but an exceptionally good deal for authors and particularly musicians, who have historically been treated appallingly by existing platforms (Amazon, Audible, Spotify, etc.).

Superior Privacy

We fully acknowledge that users own their data, and they have a right to determine what is done with it. We undertake never to sell or knowingly expose user data to third parties. We see legislation like GDPR as a selling point, not a business risk. Selling targeted advertising is an unavoidable business necessity, but under no circumstances will advertisers ever be given access to deanonymized data that personally identifies customers.

Superior Trust and Safety

As other platforms acquiesce and eliminate protections around harassment and hate speech, we intend to do exactly the opposite, and to strongly protect our user base. We regard this as absolutely non-negotiable and is the fundamental cornerstone of what Euravox stands for.

Who is Euravox for?

We serve the people who have been disenfranchised by legacy platforms as they have acquiesced to fascism and abandoned their responsibility to protect their vulnerable users.

To be clear: our primary mission is to give these users a digital home.

And also: if not us, then who?
